Community-Oriented Policing
I strongly believe in community-oriented policing built on trust, transparency, and shared responsibility for public safety. Law enforcement cannot succeed without the support and understanding of the community it serves.
As Sheriff, I will prioritize educating the public on how law enforcement works, including policies, procedures, and decision-making during critical incidents. An informed community is a stronger, safer community.
I will foster open communication and collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office and the residents of Weld County through outreach programs, public forums, and partnerships with community organizations. By working together, we can improve transparency, build mutual trust, and enhance public safety for everyone.
Community policing is not about politics—it is about accountability, professionalism, and shared commitment to keeping Weld County safe.
Officer Wellness
Officer wellness will be a top priority. I am committed to supporting the physical, mental, and emotional health of our deputies and staff. Healthy officers are better equipped to serve the public professionally, ethically, and effectively—and that benefits the entire community.
Second Amendment
I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and will defend the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I support open carry and will ensure that Concealed Handgun Permits (CHP) are processed efficiently and without unnecessary delays.
While state laws like HB25-003 impose additional obstacles on both citizens and Sheriff’s Offices, I will work to expedite the permitting process to the fullest extent allowed by law and ensure residents are not unfairly delayed in exercising their constitutional rights.
Narcotics Enforcement
Proactive narcotics enforcement will be a top priority. I will aggressively pursue collaboration with local police departments, state partners, and federal agencies to combat the distribution of illegal drugs in Weld County.
The focus will be on dismantling Drug Trafficking Organizations, targeting the source of the drugs—particularly fentanyl—rather than only arresting users and low-level dealers. This approach reduces overdoses, violence, and long-term harm to our communities.
Immigration & Criminal Aliens
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office would not participate in ICE civil immigration enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office will continue to operate as it always has, focusing solely on criminal enforcement and providing assistance with valid judicial warrants.
Weld County will continue to notify Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) when undocumented individuals housed in the detention facility are charged with or convicted of criminal offenses, as state law permits.
